You may have heard the news news earlier today that an Oak Park family hit the Powerball today.  Unfortunately, I am sorry to report that we were not the lucky winners.  OakPark.com has the details.  I think it's a little odd that the lottery won't release their names, but their picture is apparently okay!

Anyway, I can't even imagine what I would do with that much money.  But let's all dream for a minute.  What would you do if you were the Oak Park winners of the $19 million Powerball?

That is so funny, the family photo is there but not the names.  Good thing Google is still working on connecting photos to objects and items.  Google is working on some top secret developments that allows you to take a photo of an object and put it in google and if it matches anything in the photo to an item it will list the items.  So if I post your facebook photo in the Google app it will bring up who you are and where the photo is linked to...Whew scary stuff.

I love your answer Joyce. :-) My husband and I played on January 4 with the same thought - we would build a performing arts center in Oak Park.

If we won my husband and I would build a performing arts center in Oak Park, or at least fund much of it and buy a condo in L.A. so we could go back and forth easily.

I am surprised if they don't release the names at all---I thought that was part of the deal---in small print, if you buy this ticket, we can release your name, etc. for media purposes. I recall the crazy scene when Frank Capaci won the Powerball in 1998 in Streamwood....he bought drinks for everyone at his favorite watering hole. I wrote about it at the time and later about the legal dispute between him and the bartenders who bought the ticket for him in Wisconsin (Powerball wasn't in IL at the time).

I respect the family's desire to not release names, but I also wonder why the picture? Was that the Lottery acting alone?

I imagine it is only a matter of time until the family is identified based on the picture. Sounds like they were smart about it otherwise though (i.e. waiting to come forward & getting financial/legal help first.)

This one is easy, pay bills and take care of family and friends.  Also help my fav charities.  It definitely would remove a lot of stress as far as finances but I have a feeling the stress of people asking for money might be just as troublesome.  I wish them nothing but the best and hope that they can keep some sense of normalcy for their kids.
