From the Village e-alert:
The Oak Park Farmers' Market will hosts its annual corn roast Sat., Aug. 21, as the fresh-picked corn from market growers is sold by the ear hot off the roaster from about 9 a.m. - noon. The Oak Park Farmers’ Market is open from 7 a.m. – 1 p.m. every Saturday through October, in the Pilgrim Church parking lot just west of the intersection of Lake Street and Ridgeland Avenue. In addition to a variety of fresh fruits and vegetables, dried and cut flowers, bedding plants, honey and cheeses from Illinois and neighboring states, the market also offers warm donuts made on-site, juice and coffee, and live bluegrass music. For more information on the Oak Park Farmers' Market, visit www.oak-park.us/farmersmarket, e-mail farmersmarket@oak-park.us or call 708.358.5780.
Sounds interesting. Has anyone had attended past corn roast days? Are you supposed to eat it on the spot? I'm just wondering how that works if you go to the market early in the morning? Is it still corn eatin' time?
