Small Businesses Band Together to Make the Season Merry
We don’t need a reminder to tell us times are tough. And small businesses are feeling the pinch this season. “It’s all in your approach” states Kellie Scott, owner of Divine Consign and Trends, consignment furniture stores located on Oak Park Avenue in Oak Park. “You can choose to be afraid or you can innovate. I believe smart businesses innovate. Small businesses are the backbone of the community and, just as we want the community to support our small businesses, we must look for ways to support the community.”
For instance, on December 14, Divine Consign will be hosting a “Holiday Extravaganza”. This is no ordinary event. Ten local businesses have joined forces to make this an event for the community to remember. “Although the event is happening at Divine Consign, it’s not a one man show”. Cucina Paradiso is providing appetizers and House Red will be offering Wine and Cheese. Sugarcup Trading, Magic Tree Bookstore, Team Blonde and Oak Park Vintage Market will be selling their wares. Suzi Solari will be offering free fashion consultations. And there is a Craft Fair. “We think a Craft Fair is a great way to celebrate the community. All of the crafters are from the area and are actual consignors of Divine Consign. We expect to have at least 10 crafters selling everything from Custom Doll Clothing to jewelry to Chocolate.” All of the participants are contributing raffle prizes which will be given away during the event.
“It should be a lot of fun”, states Scott. The event is December 14 from 4-7 pm at both Divine Consign/Trends locations – 111 N Oak Park Avenue and 810 North Boulevard.
