Paying for parking in any of more than 4,000 public spaces throughout the Village will get a lot more convenient come Oct. 7, as Oak Park launches a new program that accepts payment via a smartphone app or toll-free telephone call.
The new system will even send motorists text message reminders 15 minutes prior to the expiration of their parking session and allow them to pay for more time remotely.
"We are thrilled to introduce mobile payment technology throughout Oak Park,”… Continue

Electric vehicle charging stations have been installed in two Village public parking garages. Chargers are located in the northwest corner on the fourth floor of the Avenue Garage on North Boulevard and just inside the Marion Street entrance on the first floor of the Holley Court Garage downtown. Each station will allow two vehicles to charge at the same time. The charging station in the Avenue Garage is connected to the solar panel array on the roof, providing clean,… Continue

Hoping to encourage residents and visitors to take the lead in moving the country toward what many believe will be the future of automobile… Continue

Hi Oak Parkers,
Something mortifying yet hilarious happened to me recently in Oak Park and I thought this might be a fun place to share it.
I park my van in the parking lot near Harlem and Lake (the one for the Gap and Pier 1) to go to the gym for a bit. I'm in the gym for about an hour-my limit-and I head out. As I'm heading across the street toward the lot, I decide to cut through the metered lot to head to my car and I can see at least three or so people standing behind… Continue

The odd even snow parking is a very strange policy, we move are car to the odd side on odd dates , yet no parking space lanes are plowed, not this snow or previous snow falls.I believe this is just a means to write tickets under the pretence of snow removal. Why move your car, when only the middle is being plowed any way. If somebody knows at village hall , please get the people on the 400 block of Oak Park an answer.

It seems like one of the most common complaints about Oak Park is the lack of parking. Well, it looks like the Village is wants people to stop whining and start parking. They just released a video that highlights the parking options around the village -- garages, lots, etc.
I think the biggest parking headaches are for people who live in condos and apartments that don't have off-street parking. I can only imagine what it's like to try to decode all the different permits, signs, etc.… Continue

The Oak Park Village Board shared their proposed 2010 budget
at this week's meeting. Since this is the first year I've actually paid attention to this kind of stuff, I'm afraid I can't offer much in terms of deep, insightful analysis. But for all of you with parking grievances, it looks like things could get even worse when it comes to tickets. According to the proposed budget, the recommended revenue target… Continue
