Marion Street Cheese Market on Groupon

There were 2 different Oak Park offers. Each only lasts a day. A couple of weeks ago it was Unity Temple. Yesterday it was Marion St. Cheese Market for food. I also don't pay for UT tours, ans I go f…

What's the right name for our 'bigger' geography?

OPRF with F. P. are referred to frequently as the tri-village area.

Tear Down the Building at Lake & Forest

It's a good thing. I just hope they aren't going to tear down the parking garage too.

My friends and I have an annual tradition of breakfast outdoors there a few times during the summer. I love the "snowflakes" and the other eggs Benedick variations. The potatoes are good as a side too, and good coffee.

I don't see anything wrong with it. I eat healthy but I indulge in a hot dog or ice cream for fun once in a while. As long as you aren't doing it daily I don't think it will hurt you. What's childhood without an occasional hot dog? Besides, the Tast…

A matters regarding education in Oak Park. People move here, supposedly, for the schools.

I have some from years ago. I'd be up for it occasionally if I'm available and it's not a Saturday night.

Because "Borg Cube" just sounds off-putting. For folks who enjoy tabletop games, role-playing games, console videogames, Steve Jackson games, Cheapass games, etc.

Thanks for publishing that. It should be noted that there will be a regular performance of Love's Labor's Lost that evening, which is a separate ticket.

The last 2 performances of "Of Mice and Men" are tonight and Saturday. If you talk to anyone who's seen it they will tell you it's outstanding. Oakparkfestival.com.

I like it, but I wish some of the money would go to performing arts groups, which always need financial help, bring more people to the village and involve many more artists.

I like Dr. Dorne in River Forest.

You don't have to worry. This area is too built up and tightly packed for a major tornado to develop. Of course there can be wind damage or a lightening strike, but nothing so severe it flattens a house. We spent much of the storm watching it from o…

I agree, as long as they don't tear down the parking garage, which is heavily used.

An easy and free way to help a local treasure

Those of you who have been part of this group for a while probably noticed that I am on the board of Oak Park Festival Theatre and a big supporter of it. It is one of the very special offerings that draws people from the entire Chicago area and beyond to our village. We are not funded by the village and as a professional outdoor theater have the challenge of paying our casts even when we are rained out. Chase Bank is having a contest and will award $20,000 to the top 200 vote getters. If you are… Continue

Oak Park Festival Theatre's Season is about to begin

You know summer is really here when you can attend a play in Austin Gardens. If you don't know it, it is a lovely secluded park right behind The Lake Theatre. Oak Park Festival Theatre is celebrating its 35th anniversary of professional productions of classic plays. It is a shame how many people in the Oak Park area drive to Navy Pier and elsewhere and don't go to this treasure in their own community, while people come here from 3 states to see it. "Of Mice and Men" has $15 previews next Wed and… Continue
