1) I think The Buzz fits the bill...but they do close a little too early for me. They're also "family friendly" to the point of being overrun with small children at times...which is the main reason I stopped going there. 2) Have you never been to G…

I know that someone said we needed a microbrewery in Oak Park. Well, according to this Wednesday Journal article, you may be in luck.

I'm definitely in. I hope there's mole. There better be mole. If there's no mole, I may make a scene. I don't eat mole every day; I mean, I don't NEED it. Alright, I once sold my brother's car for some mole. And I may have done some other things I'm…

Why isn't anyone picking up on Russ' brilliant earlier suggestion: hostile takeover. Granted, he suggested Oak Park purchase neighboring villages, but I think we should just go old school. Who's up for a raiding party?

It's only half a block from my apartment and has a fantastic array of beers, so it's where I drink the most (frequency and quantity). The food, as has been said, is really secondary. It's typical bar selection and feels like an afterthought to the b…

Blue Max is my second office. Their food is excellent, the coffee fresh and robust, the staff is unfailingly friendly and welcoming, the space is comfortable, inside or out. It's one of those rare little gems you just have to be grateful you found.

I'm very excited by this. The restaurants and vendors will be great, but I'm really hoping they get a good selection of farmers represented. Having the opportunity to buy fresh, local produce twice a week is a real boon. Perhaps 9:00 isn't that late…

I'm really hoping it's not too soon for fresh tomatoes. I'd also love some scallions, peppers, onions any fresh fruit. But of course, I'll be showing up early for precious thing: Angel Turds

I run the Grammy-award winning, world-touring, all around awesome new music group eighth blackbird. I work from home in a lovely apartment overlooking Mills Park. I used to work part-time at Marion Street Cheese Market too, which was a lot of fun, but I just got too busy with my birds. If you live or work in downtown OP, you'll see me. Say 'Hi'.

Home Exchange?

My job is such that I can work remotely, particularly during the summer months.

I'd really like to work from another country, but without losing my apartment.

I've found a number of home exchange services on the internet.

Has anyone ever had any experience with home swaps? Or heard of anyone else that has?

Thanks!

Winberie's

I just had to give a quick shout out to Winberie's.

Last night, my heart/stomach was set on chicken enchiladas, but was thwarted when I was turned away from Fuego Loco. Apparently they close at 9:00. Which is mucho loco.

So, despairing, I begrudgingly walked over to Winberie's. I can't say why I never considered it before. I just didn't.

I ended up having one of the best meals I've had in Oak Park (Chicken Puttanesca), and the service was equally outstanding.

All in all, a very pleasant surp… Continue

Green Line Panhandler

The Tribune has just run a story about Clarence Ervin, a panhandler I'm certain we've all had to deal with. Usually I can get him to leave me along, but twice I've nearly had to fight him when I've told him to leave other people alone. He comes inside MSCM to beg; one time I saw him stopping traffic to demand money from drivers.

And, according to the article:

CFPA: For or Against?

After seeing Elizabeth Warren on the Daily Show this week, I started looking around online for information about the bill she referred to in the end of the interview. She said it was critical that this legislation be passed and urged people to write to their senators. Eventually I realized she was talking about the CFPA, which was passed in the House and is now in the Senate.

Little angers me mo… Continue

Thanks for swinging by! As you probably noticed, we have a number of Oak Park Twitter folks on here. Must be nice overlooking the park. We kind of overlook a park (ok ... it's the playing field for an elementary school, but it's park-like) and it's definitely nice and serene when the kiddos aren't out there. Looking forward to chatting with you more.
