Anyone know of a good place to watch the sunset in or near Oak Park? Also, looking for some interesting hiking (or just getting out in nature a bit). Willing to drive an hour or so. Any suggestions?

Kids this age are still kids, but are facing so many different aspects of the "grown up…"

"Nothing beats a sunset from the beach in southwest Michigan... New Buffalo has a great public beach and you could even take Amtrak there (less than an hour from Union Station!) Lots of cute places to stay too."

Depends on what you consider scenic.
Really, at 1.5 hours, you could be in Michigan and watch the sun set over the lake from the top of a sand dune..
Kankakee river state park can be quite nice .. there are sandstone towers and outcroppings…"
