I admit- it' requires a lot of time. But as a Girl Scout leader with my 8 year old daughter we have had a bevy of volunteer opportunities together: Food drive, water conservation project, and just this past weekend we made lunches for one of the PADS overnights. (also we made some long term food packs for PREVAIL). Of course, those opportunities are in large part because of the way my co-leader and I direct the activities the girls can choose.
There is also the Neighborhood Giving Project which has some fantastic opportunities.
And the YMCA if you belong or don't often has a lot of service projects they direct through their facility. We made sandwiches there for a long time and also participated in the Thanksgiving feast for folks by providing muffins that we made. My daughter was too young to "serve" but not too young to help mix the muffins.
Good luck and have fun.
Hey there! Looking to teach my daughter a bit about community and want to find something we can volunteer to do together. She's 8. Any ideas?

Hi everyone. Does anyone know of any organizations in the area that might be looking for volunteers to teach basic computer skills to adults? I've found a few places in the city or in the northern burbs, but I was trying to find something closer to home. Thanks!
