Going to GenCon? 2 Replies

Hey all, who's going to GenCon this year? I'm headed there and would perhaps be interested in splitting a hotel and/or carpooling.

I totally forgot about the villa - I don't know what it is but yeah being able to build stuff out like that, even though I don't think it technically qualified as RPG still added something to the fun for me.

And yes, I remember seeing that part, but completely forgot about it :)

I loved the controls on AC2. I thought they were pretty fluid especially free running. I am actually still playing it trying to find all the feathers and puzzles. I collected every treasure and completely built out the villa.

I liked Assassin's Creed 2, especially the ability to outfit my own villa. I wish they'd taken that further. My biggest complaint about AC2 is the controls -- I thought they were horribly clumsy. That knocked it down to a B+ for me.

Speaking of AC2 and Mario, did anyone catch this in the game? Made me laugh:

(and by better I mean more polished and believable).

I liked Bayonetta a lot, it was just plain fun - silly in a lot of ways, but overall enjoyable, and you can probably get it for less than $20 now. (The Space Harrier, Sonic & Hang On references were probably my biggest gripe).

The harder difficulty levels were a big challenge but I didn't find enough in the game to carry me through them.

Still, I'd say it was probably one of the better releases that came out of that flurry of January releases.

Assassin's Creed 2 I enjoyed a lot - I thought the period feel was a little better than in the first one and I really liked the puzzles too. The Italian was a little distracting at first, but it didn't sound like Mario.

I loved the Italian--and it really wasn't anything special ("Rest in peace" and all that). I thought it was the perfect blend for periodization. That, and Ezio actually sounded like he was from Italy--unlike Altair, who sounded like a grumpy Midwestern newscaster. But yes, great game. (I actually replayed much of it in French to prepare for a recent trip to Paris--insta immersion!)

And Rich, I keep playing that demo from time to time, too--I've had it on my system for about four months--but for some reason I don't feel very excited about playing the actual game. Let me know how it goes if you play it.

Just finished Assassin's Creed 2 finally. Great game. Only thing I didn't like about it was the Italian made the story line way to hard to follow versus the first game. I honestly just stopped following the story and focused on the missions. Can't wait for A3 this winter.

Finally getting around to playing Halo ODST. Decent enough game.

For all you PC gamers out there, Steam is having one of their awesome sales where every day is a new set of deals until July 4th. I've picked up some phenomenal deals in the past with them (My favorite being Star Wars: KOTOR for $2.50,) so I highly recommend keeping an eye out. The deals change every day at 10am PST (noon our time.)

I've been ever so slowly working my way through RDR - I don't think I can join you since I'm on XBL. All in all pretty good, and I think R* is moving in a good direction, but I find some of the movement in their engine a little bit hinky and would like to see them rework it. I think it works better for horses than for cars though. Love the act 3 music - hints of Ennio Morricone & Once Upon A Time In The West.

Anyone playing Red Dead Redemption on the PS3? It's pretty fun -- I like it better than the other Rockstar Games. I just started the multiplayer; if anyone is interested in joining me, just let me know.
