Look - I gotta share - I'm sharing tomorrow in the blog too, but I have to tell all of you here.

CULVERS has been fantastic for our allergy family.   It's like engineered allergy notification when you tell them you have a food allergy.   It's pretty key for us.   If I thought they were loosey goosey at all - because of my daughters PECAN allergy we wouldn't go there at all.   There are pecans all over that menu.   But they shout it out that there is an allergy - everyone communicates it - it is teamwork at it's best.

And it's fantastic.   FYI

In case any of you were on the fence about going - I feel really confident in my family's safety and I even have one of those kids that gets blue and stops breathing when it's just an itty bit.

Thank you Culver

Hello mommies of Oak Park,

My name is Brittany and I am a mommy to a 15 month old baby girl. I am currently a sahm who also blogs and provides sitter services and nannying. I have lots of availability and affordable rates. I enjoy providing care to other children because it provides my daughter and the child I am caring for a social experience.

I am currently enrolled in school studying early childhood education and I love it.

I am also interested in playdates with children who are close to my daughters age.

Hi Moms!

It's nice that I can officially join the group - my daughter is about 6 months now.

I noticed that some of you are looking for a dance studio, and I wanted to let you know our fall schedule of classes is now available on our web site.  There you can also find reasons why TranscenDance Studios is different from other dance studios.  FFC members and non-member welcome!

We are getting creative this year with our class offerings including a Boyz Only Hip Hop, Break Dancing, Tumbling, Jumps & Stretch - a specialty class for cheerleaders/gymnasts/ice skaters, and even a Glee Club!  Of course we still have all the traditional classes - ballet, pointe, tap, jazz, lyrical, and hip hop.

TDS is also home to award-winning youth ensembles for dancers ages 6 and up ready to take their art form to the next level.

Flex & Pointe dancers are welcome, and I would be happy to arrange complimentary trial classes to determine placement and let you see how ya like TDS!

Also, if anyone knows of any 24-hour or "evening" childcare facilities around the area, I would love to hear your thoughts.

Thank you! - Cait

Magical Minds Studio offers a "Passport 2 Preschool" program for children 2.5 - 6 years of age.  It's a 2.5 hour program, Mon-Thurs and your child does not need to be potty-trained.

The program is literature based with the goal of helping children become comfortable with leaving "home/mommy/daddy", and prepare them for preschool.  Parents have enrolled their children in the program to either supplement preschool or enhance the overall learning experience for their child.

There really is no other program like this in Oak Park.  I know because I was searching for one when my son was just less than 3 years.  That reason is what led me to begin this program.

If you have questions send me an email!  More information here.

I will play close attention to your replies, Jax, as I have also have an upcoming 1 year old party in September!  lol.  All I've thought of is Carroll Park as the rental rates are very reasonable.

HI everyone! I'm wondering if anyone has any ideas for where to have my 1 year old's birthday party locally. It won't be til October but figured I'd start asking around. Thanks!

Thank you ladies! I might try Transendance since we are members at FFC, but I had looked at Intuit too. I guess I will have to see what times the classes are in the fall schedule!

We never did find the right fit for our daughter for dance.   It's awful to say, BUT my six year old was with the park district for a bit and was completely uninspired.  That teacher now owns a dance spot in Oak Park but no longer works for the village.

We have had our children (girl and boy) at Intuit in the past and both really enjoyed the classes.  Diane is great but we couldn't work with her scheduled classes this summer.  Instead, we tried the Park District for my daughter (4yo) and she did not like her class at all.  I know others who do like them but my daughter didn't like the dirty floor in the facility and she had a rough start because her original class was full of much younger children.  We switched to Transcendance at FFC - and she loves the class.  It's ballet, tap and jazz and Cait, the owner, is excellent.  There is still room available in the Thursday, 4pm class and they may still be taking sign-ups.  Good luck!
