As you may have heard, Oak Park voters are being asked to vote on a referendum to increase taxes in order to prevent significant cuts in the elementary and middle schools (District 97). The election is April 5, but early voting has already started at Village Hall (now until March 31, even on Saturdays). Please take some time to become informed on this important issue.

There are more public information sessions where you can ask specific questions of the Board of Education President, as well as representatives for both sides. Here are those dates:

March 15 at 7 p.m. – South East Oak Park Community Organization, Wednesday Journal and the Irving PTO are co-hosting a referendum forum at Irving School (1125 S. Cuyler).

March 17 from 9:15 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. – Preschool information forum at the Main Library, focusing on info for those not yet enrolled in District 97.

March 23 at 7 p.m. – Lincoln PTO is hosting a referendum forum at Lincoln School (1111 S. Grove).

March 24 at 7 p.m. – Holmes PTO is hosting a referendum forum at Holmes School (508 N. Kenilworth).
