If you like to cook and you're looking for some inspiration, I'd highly recommend the classes at Flavour cooking school in Forest Park. We've done a couple of the classes (including the always awesome New Year's Eve class) and they have been a lot of fun. Some of the recipes were a little too much work and I was able to come up with suitable shortcuts instead, but it was still worthwhile. Has anyone else taken classes there? What did you think?

Brad and I have gone to Flavour for the last 3 years of the Valentine's theme. It's become a tradition for us. I also took the knife skills class and learned everything that I was missing in my chopping/cutting skills. I'd love to go more often. We'll have to try the New Year's Eve class - sounds like fun.

Yeah, the New Year's class is a lot of fun. The first year we did it, we started cooking at 9:00 and finished at midnight. It was something like four courses. The New Year's class has been our tradition. We didn't go last year because it was pricier than usual but I hope to go this year. I love all the random things you learn in the classes like how to cut things, difference between good chocolate (melts in your hand) and bad chocolate (melts at extreme temps). The Valentine's Day one sounds like a great idea too!

We love Flavour at the Peach! We actually partnered with them for last month's newsletter--we have a recipe in each newsletter and we decided it'd be good to incorporate our friends over there. They gave us a wonderful recipe for herb and mustard-crusted chicken--so so good! Can't get enough. The recipe calls for our Edmond Fallot basil or tarragon dijon, but I used the truffle mustard we have here and oh my...drool-worthy.
I'd love to try out some of their classes sometime. I can use any help I can get in the cooking field!

i worked at flavour and denise norton (owner) is amazing! she is so passionate about food and fun to work with. i was not an on staff chef, i just managed most the retail and did the ordering of merchandise for her. i am a foodie though and will always love flavour! not a trained chef but i can hold my own. cooking is my art, my passion and my time at flavour was a wonderful thing. i highly recommend going to flavour and taking her 101 classes. poultry, meat, shellfish etc..... you will never be afraid of anything in the kitchen! i was so afraid of fish until the day i was working and she taught that class. wow! the knife basics class is a must. they say that the knife is the most important tool in any cooks kitchen. a dull knife is the most dangerous. i agree.
