What's the new business going in next door to Paper Source on Lake Street???

I saw construction going on next door to Paper Source. There appear to be large windows (floor to ceiling) that could be opened in the summertime. Any chance we're getting a new restaurant/bar? Is this the new location of Mancini's?

I believe it is the new location of Mancini's. They used to have a sign but now that construction has progressed, it appears they took it down. We went to Mancini's once but were a little underwhelmed by the pizza.

The pizza is just ok. The pastas are excellent, though.

I would like to give them another try. Especially if they're going to have nice big windows open for the summer. Thanks for the tip about the pasta.

I agree with John--the pizzas are fine, but the pastas! They have a pumpkin ravioli with walnut cream sauce that is one of my favorite dishes ever, anywhere.

Not sure I've tried the pizza, but love the pasta! Have tried them several times during DTOP's summer Thursday Night Out promos. I'm glad they'll have a bigger space soon!

I actually like their pizza. It's also a fun place to hang out in; very intimate and the staff is very friendly. I love sitting by myself with some pizza, wine, desert and coffee and eavesdropping on the other customers. Great place to write. I hope they can recreate that cozy vibe at the bigger space.

I do like the atmosphere, and I worry that it's not going to be quite the same in the bigger space. I overheard a conversation there this summer that the move wasn't really their choice. I hope it works out ok for them. A bigger space=bigger expenses. Most of the time it's pretty easy to get a seat there, now. When tables aren't available, they open up pretty quickly. If they don't get more business to cover the increased costs, they will have to raise rates. And it's our favorite reasonably priced restaurant, but if the rates go up, we won't be able to go as often. I would hate to see another good Oak Park destination go out of business, and I would also hate to see them increase the prices to the point where it's too expensive to dine frequently. The latter problem hit New Rebozo a few years ago. We used to go there a lot, but it now costs us as much for one trip as it used to cost for three trips. We still love it, but we don't go there nearly as much anymore.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who wasn't impressed with their pizza. Also wasn't impressed with Puree. So who has good pizza in Oak Park?

Personally, I think the Homemade Pizza company has the best pizza in Oak Park. But you have to bake it yourself there's no seating in the store. I wrote a blog post expressing my love for them a few week ago.

We make our own most of the time. When we don't we order from Nick's, which we like a lot.

We used to LOVE Pizza Palazzo. In fact whenever friends came to visit they insisted we order from there. But I think management changed and the pizza hasn't been as good since. The crust used to be crisp like a cracker but after new management took over it was soggy. We haven't ordered from them in months so I'm not sure if they ever worked things out.

Shame.

Hey yooj. I think Pizza Palazzo may be closed. I was on another forum a few weeks ago and someone posted that there was a sign in the window saying they'd be closed for a week. A number of weeks had since passed and they hadn't re-opened. I'm not sure what the current status is.
