Do we have spammers joining our group? Did anyone else receive this?

Great, I was correct in not even considering it. I know some ppl with the name Veronica, but the wording just set my hair on end. Hopefully we can get the user removed.

The sad thing is that this type of spam must work. Some mental midget responds otherwise they wouldn't keep spamming.

Yeah. I'm really sorry about that guys. I've already banned the evil dooer (or is it do-er). I try to keep an eye on suspicious looking members and remove them right away. This person has been banned, so the comment she left on your pages should be gone now. Please let me know if you are ever contacted by any other spammy members and I will take care of it asap.

Yes, I got exactly the same message. I suspect that we were hit because there are robot-type programs that go to websites and pull out all the email addresses. They are then sold to spam merchants. If we get more of these "offers" we might need to take some defensive actions.

Oh, now I see in other replies that Becca has taken care of it.

Hi Brent, the spammers aren't harvesting e-mail addresses. They're joining the site and writing on people's pages, which then generates a spammy e-mail notification. Very annoying. Any faux members who demonstrate spammy behavior are banned asap.

Speaking of which, I see a few new members on the site, without pictures, and without any information in their profiles. Might they be spammers?

Hi Chris, that did occur to me as well. I've been keeping an eye on these individuals. I thought about automatically banning them, but then decided not to in case they were legitmate members who just might be a little shy. But I do have my eye on them!
