Dominican University will present a lecture on “Iran, Turkey and the United States: Power Triangle for the 21st Century?” by Stephen Kinzer, an award-winning foreign correspondent and author, on Thursday, February 25 at 7:00 p.m. in Parmer Hall Room 108, 7900 W. Division Street, River Forest.
Kinzer, who served as Dominican University’s 2008 Lund-Gill Chair, will release a new book in June 2010 titled Reset: Iran, Turkey, and America’s Future. In this paradigm-shifting book, Kinzer argues that America should partner with Turkey and Iran in order to create a peaceful, democratic Middle East. Kinzer also recommends that the U.S. reshape relations with its two traditional Middle East allies, Israel and Saudi Arabia.
Kinzer has reported on international affairs as the bureau chief for The New York Times in Nicaragua; Bonn, Germany; and Istanbul, Turkey, and has written numerous books on his experiences. His other books include A Thousand Hills: Rwanda’s Rebirth and the Man Who Dreamed It (2008), All the Shah’s Men: An American Coup and the Roots of Middle East Terror (2003), Crescent and Star: Turkey Between Two Worlds (2002), Blood of Brothers: Life and War in Nicaragua (1991) and Bitter Fruit: The Story of the American Coup in Guatemala (1983).
This lecture is free and open to the public. For more information, contact Dr. John Jenks, professor of journalism at Dominican University, at (708) 524-6932 or jjenks@dom.edu.
